But one savvy mother has revealed the ingenious way she managed to make her rusty bathroom towel rail look as good as new while only spending £1.
Eve Cocks, from Cardiff, took to the Facebook group to show her incredible transformation and share how to avoid splashing out on new household items.
She managed to get the rusted chrome rail looking good as new by scooping a small amount of The Pink Stuff cleaning paste on to scruched up tinfoil and gently rubbing it on to the bars.

Eve explained: ‘Well, I’m amazed… just used The Pink Stuff and foil on my disgusting old rusty towel rail and it looks nearly brand new!
